Trileptal (Oxcarbazepine)

Generic Name: oxcarbazepine (ox kar BAY zeh peen)

Brand Names: Oxtellar XR, Trileptal

Where to buy Trileptal online?

Product Description

Trileptal, or oxcarbazepine, is an anticonvulsant drug. This means that it is used to treat people suffering from seizures. A doctor can prescribe this drug for adults and for children no younger than two years of age.

How it Works

People who experience seizures have abnormal functioning of electrical activity in the brain. Specifically, a seizure is caused by overactivity of neural impulses. This causes the characteristic tremors and stiffness of the body during a seizure. Trileptal works to reduce these overactive impulses by preventing the release of a neurotransmitter called glutamate. This inhibits the excessive electrical activity.

This drug is primarily used to treat epilepsy, but is has also been found to stabilize mood, and is thus sometimes given to patients with bipolar disorder.

The exact dosage can only be decided by a medical expert and this amount should not be changed or stopped unless this professional explicitly advises it. The drug may come in tablet form or as an oral suspension. If using the suspension, the bottle must be shaken well before consumption. Daily dosage will generally be split into two equal quantities for consuming twice daily. It can be taken with or without meals.

Side Effects

It is possible to experience some negative side effects when taking Trileptal. It is best to be aware of the most common side effects should they arise. The milder ones include:

bullet_green_small3 Abdominal pain
bullet_green_small3 Burning sensation in chest/stomach
bullet_green_small3 Nausea/vomiting
bullet_green_small3 Unusual drowsiness

These symptoms should pass in time and will not likely require medical attention. If, however, they persist, speak with a physician. Patients should also be vigilant for more severe side effects. These include, but are not limited to, the following:

bullet_green_small3 Vision changes
bullet_green_small3 Clumsiness or difficulty walking/balancing
bullet_green_small3 Flu symptoms
bullet_green_small3 Dizziness
bullet_green_small3 Depression
bullet_green_small3 Mood swings

If you should experience any of the above major side effects, or if you experience a side effect that causes concern, contact a medical professional immediately.

It is important to adhere to certain precautions prior to and during the consumption of Trileptal. Never take this drug without express advice from a doctor. Some preexisting conditions can be exacerbated if this drug is taken, and some other medications can interact with Trileptal to cause serious negative effects. This is why it is vital to keep your doctor informed of your entire medical history or any prescription drugs you have been taking. This includes any other recreational drug use.

Especially confide in your doctor if you have liver or kidney disease, depression or other mood disorders, or a history of thoughts or actions related to suicide. You should also inform them of any allergies you may have. If your doctor gives you the green light for this drug, make sure to continuously monitor your progress with regular checkups.

Self Care

It is not recommended by doctors to start this drug while breastfeeding or pregnant, but it should never suddenly be stopped. It is more dangerous to have a seizure while pregnant than it is to remain on the drug. If you are planning to become pregnant or need to breastfeed, consult your doctor about your options first.
